ACTH is a second line test for the investigation of adrenal disorders and should be requested within an Endocrinology assessment. 

ACTH is a very labile hormone and samples must be taken to the laboratory without delay.

 

Collection Conditions

Paediatric Alternative: 1.2ml EDTA (Red top)

Request PGH and DDH only. Sample to lab within 10 mins.  Collection time between 9 and 10 am is preferred. DO NOT SEND THROUGH THE POD.

Transport to the laboratory

Sample to lab ASAP. Collection between 9 and 10 am is preferred but other times acceptable. DO NOT SEND THROUGH THE POD.
