We have multiple teams who specialise in diagnosing and treating specific cancers. These are:

In line with regional and national best practice, we also provide a diagnostic service, led by our MSK Radiology team to use imaging assessment of bone and soft tissue lesions. The soft tissue and bone sarcoma services are run on a regional (Leeds) and supra-regional (Birmingham) basis respectively.
Multidisciplinary teams (MDTs)
Every person with a suspected or confirmed cancer is cared for by a team of healthcare professionals knows as the Multidisciplinary team (MDT). All MDTs include:

- Radiologists
- Pathologists
- Surgeons
- Oncologists
- Research Nurses
- Dietitians
- Physiotherapists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Radiographers
The MDT meet regularly to discuss patients who have a cancer diagnosis and decide the most appropriate treatment plans.
Other professionals who may be involved in your care can include:

Cancer Management Team
The Cancer Management Team (CMT) is part of the Access Booking and Choice department within the Trust’s Emergency and Elective Services Division.
CMT oversees and manages cancer performance at the Trust, working closely with our Commissioning managers and Primary Care colleagues. We ensure close liaison with other providers across the Yorkshire region, especially at the Leeds Cancer Centre, our main tertiary partner. We work closely with third-sector organisations such as Macmillan, Age UK, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Cancer Research UK AND Public Health and others who strive to improve services and ensure holistic care for patients living with and beyond cancer.
CMT connects the Trust’s 14 Tumour-Site Specific Groups (TSSGs) and their multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), working closely with Clinical Leads and Nurse Specialists. We also manage the Cancer Administration Team including MDT Co-ordinators, Cancer Trackers and the Fast-Track Team.

Macmillan Cancer Support Centre
The Macmillan Information Pod was established in 2015 and is based at Level D, Pinderfields Hospital. The centre can offer advice, support and information to anyone affected by cancer.
Additionally, the service at The Rosewood Centre, Dewsbury opened in 2022. This is open Monday to Friday from 8am-4pm.
