Each year, staff and services at the Trust are recognised in a variety of external and internal forums for the quality of care they provide.

Awards and recognition

We’re unbeliveably proud of the achievements of all our staff make. In recent years, our colleague have worked extremely hard, which has been recognised through awards and accreditiations. Some of which include:

  • October 2024 -Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust shortlisted in the MRW (Materials Recycling World) National Recycling Awards.

  • October 2024 -Trust wins NHS Forest Award for 'most trees planed on NHS forest site.' 

  • October 2024 -Healthcare professionals triple win at the Healthcare People Management Association. 

  • July 2024 -Trusts Director of Midwifery and Woman's Health was honoured with NHSE Chief Midwifery Officer 'Gold' Award. 

  • June 2024 -Waiting Well project wins the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Excellence Awards.

  • May 2024 -VTE Examplar Centre Status from King's College London for the trusts sustained commitment to VTE, prevention and innovation.

  • April 2024 -Three apprentices shortlisted for Educational Apprentice of the Year Award at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group. 

  • March 2024 -West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYATT) awarded 'Best Legal Partnership with the NHS.'

  • February 2024 -SEQOHS reaccrediation for compassionate focus on health and wellbeing.

  • February 2024 -National Perceptorship Interim Quality Mark, awarded for meeting the Gold Standards Framework.

  • December 2023 -Parlimentary recognition for Mid Yorkshire Specialist Midwife. 

  • November 2023 - ‘Best International Recruitment Experience’ was won at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit and Awards.

  • October 2023 - The Healthcare Academy scooped the Excellence in Ongoing Learning and Development at the NHS England Healthcare Support Worker Programme 2023 Awards, for their dedication to continuous learning and innovation in the next generation of healthcare professionals.

  • August 2023 - The Medical Education Team successfully picked up four awards at the MEET UP (Medical Education Excellence Through Undergraduate Projects) conference held in Bradford.
  • June 2023 - The Trust won the ‘Best Public Sector Benefits’ award and was highly commended in the ‘Best Voluntary Benefits’ category, in a joint award nomination for the Trust’s Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service and Employee Benefits at the Employee Benefits Awards.

  • May 2023 -  The Teaching Trust was awarded the NHS England pastoral care quality award, for the ongoing commitment to supporting internationally educated nurses and midwives.

  • May 2023 - The Trust secured teaching status is a new partnership with the University of Leeds. 

  • April 2023 - The Trust receive reaccreditation for the Veteran Aware status from the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VC HA). This is for the support offered to members of the Armed Forces community in the workforce and to its patients.

  • April 2023 - The organisation was awarded government funding for heat pumps and other energy projects to help reduce emissions from its estate.

  • March 2023 - The Organ Donation team were delighted to be shortlisted at the ‘Awards for Excellence’ by the British Transplantation Society and NHSBT Organ Donation and Transplantation joint congress.

  • February 2023 - The Trust won two awards in the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group Apprenticeship Awards. 

  • January 2023 - Our three hospitals sites Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury, was reaccredited with the 'We invest in people' standard accreditation, by Investors in People (IIP).

  • January 2023 - We continued to meet the requirements for SEQOHS accreditation (Safe, Effective, Quality Occupational Health Service), following an assessment by the Royal College of Physicians in association with the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.

  • October 2022 - The Learning Disabilities Nursing Awardwas won by our nurses at the Nursing Times Awards.This was for the Trust's eight-week surgical pathway which collaboratively developed alongside people with lived experience. The pathway aims to ensure that patients with a learning disability are offered timely surgical intervention when required and to provide patients with improved outcomes and an excellent experience.

  • October 2022 - The Trust was awarded a level 2 accreditation by the National Finance Leadership Council (FLC). 

  • June 2022 - Mr Aaron Ng, Consultant won Best Musculoskeletal Trauma Principal Investigator (PI) in the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (OTS) and the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Research Network (NIHR CRN) Research Awards.

  • June 2022 - The Trust achieved independent accreditation for its high-quality gastrointestinal endoscopy services at all three of its hospital sites.

  • May 2022 - The Trust Research team won three categories they were shortlisted for at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) CRN Yorkshire and Humber Research Awards.

  • May 2022 - The Trust picked up the winning awards in the Employer of the Year, Apprenticeship Ambassador of the Year, and Level 6 Apprentice of the Year categories at the Huddersfield University Apprenticeship Awards.

  • March 2022 - Together with supply partner NDL Software, scooped the bronze award honour at the Public Sector Transformation Awards 2022 for the delivery of their Robotic Process Automation (RPA) project, which saw the deployment of four high impact processes across the Trust.

Even througout the pandemic they continued to win awards and recognition for their fantastic achievements, such as:

  • March 2021 - our Lower Limb Clinic team were winners of the British Journal of Nursing Award ‘Wound Care Nurse of the Year’
     
  • April 2020 - the Trust’s eMeds Project Team was named as Team of the Year at the Leading Healthcare Awards, for the Trust-wide implementation of eMeds, our electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) system. The eMeds project was also presented with a highly commended award in the Patient Safety category and named as a finalist in the category of Clinical Improvement.
     
  • July 2020 - the Trust achieved Gold status under the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), demonstrating our ongoing commitment to our armed forces community and reservists.
     
  • October 2020 - our Cardiac Rehabilitation Multi-Disciplinary Team were awarded a green certified status by the National Certification Programme for Cardiac Rehabilitation, for their efforts in providing excellent care for our cardiac patients in their recovery.
     
  • November 2020 - Chief Executive, Martin Barkley, was awarded BAPIO’s (British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership. In recognition and acknowledgement of his passion for racial equality and diversity, and his contribution and dedication to the NHS.
     
  • Our Shared Referral Pathway was highly commended in the category of Cardiovascular Care Initiative of the Year at the HSJ Value Awards 2021, and a shortlisted finalist in the BMJ Awards 2021.
