Gynaecology Assessment Unit
Gynaecology Assessment
Acute gynaecology patients will be referred direct from A&E, GP's, outpatient departments or from other consultants. The aim is that patients are assessed, often scanned and then managed in the unit to prevent an acute admission to the hospital. We aim to see all referrals as soon as possible, any follow up required will be organised from your assessment if required.
We are also able to provide minor surgical procedures within the department using local anaesthetic.
If you are a current gynaecology patient and you have had a recent surgery/procedure or are waiting you should contact your consultants secretary or Clinical Nurse Specialist initially.
If however there is an emergency problem such as heavy bleeding and/or pain we offer emergency advice and assessments if necessary. Please attend accident and emergency out of hours.
If the phone line is busy, we are currently triaging a patient. Please leave a voicemail and keep your phone with you with the volume on high, as we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note, as we are an acute unit, we are unable to accommodate specific call-back times. Thank you for your understanding.
