Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein is an acute phase protein. 

This protein used to be used in the diagnosis and monitoring of inflammatory bowel disease. 

It is a marker of activity in inflammatory bowel disease; used in disease assessment of Crohn's - useful indicator for early stages of disease. 

CRP is a more useful indicator of acute phase.
