About our service
This weppage contains useful links to common patient information leaflets that are used throughout the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialty that requires Consultants to hold degrees in both medicine and dentistry. The specialty treats diseases of the mouth, jaws, face and neck as well as management of facial trauma.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons frequently work alongside other specialists including orthodontists, oncologists, neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons and ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeons and community dental services.
Oral and maxillofacial assessment and treatment is provided within the Oral and Facial department in Pinderfields Hospital, Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract Hospital by a team of Consultants, Staff Grades, Specialty Trainees and Dental Core Trainees.
We provide a 24/7 emergency service based at Pinderfields General Hospital. Senior staff also provide advice for (and in some cases will also attend) emergencies at Pontefract Hospital or Dewsbury and District Hospital.
We are able to accept patients on referral for assessment, advice and treatment. Patients are usually referred by their General Medical Practitioner, General Dental Practitioner or from specialists.
If you have further questions that are not covered in these documents, please contact the department on the numbers provided on this page.
