Trust presented with NJR ‘gold’ patient safety award
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is celebrating after the Trust was given a ‘gold’ National Joint Registry (NJR) Quality Data Provider award.
The award was presented after the Trust successfully completed a national data quality audit programme.
The NJR monitors the performance of hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacement procedures so that patients get the best possible care.
The data gathered is also used to provide feedback on surgical performance to orthopaedic clinicians and joint replacement implant manufacturers as well as being used to support patient safety for joint replacement surgery.
Mr James Newman, Head of Clinical Service for Orthopaedics, said: “Improving patient safety is of the upmost importance and something we take very seriously.
“We fully support the National Joint Registry’s work to improve clinical outcomes for joint replacement patients and we’re delighted to be presented with a ‘gold’ NJR Quality Data Provider award.”
Medical Director of the National Joint Registry, Mr Tim Wilton, said: “Congratulations to colleagues at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As well as being a fundamental driver to inform improved quality of care for patients, registry data provides an important source of evidence for regulators, such as the Care Quality Commission, to inform their judgements about the quality of health services.”
