NHS Cadets - our future heroes
NHS Cadets was created in partnership with St John’s Ambulance to provide opportunities to explore roles in healthcare. The project is aimed at 14 to 18 year olds from communities currently under-represented within the NHS and St John Ambulance.
The project aims to reach a diverse range of young people who have barriers to entering health volunteering or a health care career.
The project offers valuable experience for future careers and the opportunity to meet with guest speakers from across the Trust, offering insight in to many different roles.
The MYHT Cadets programme has started its second year with a new cohort for the academic year 2022/23.
The Trust is now able to offer the Advanced level programme at Pinderfields Hospital with the new cohort seeing cadets continuing their experience from the previous year and new starters.
Recently the cadets meet with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service who delivered a session on CPR training, an invaluable skill that is the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
NHS Cadets mission is to build volunteering for health into every community, providing first and second response and resilience every day.
