Muslims for MRI
A network of Muslim organisations from across the district are coming together and giving their support to a local charity fundraising appeal made by Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Muslims for MRI has been setup to raise money for the Trust’s MY MRI Appeal, led by MY Hospitals Charity.
Muslims for MRI brings together the whole Muslim community from across Wakefield and North Kirklees working with more than 60 local mosques to support the MRI Appeal during the holy month of Ramadan. They are encouraging Muslims to get behind the campaign and raise £150,000 towards the appeal.
Amer Bhatti, from Muslims for MRI said: “The Muslim community are really happy to support the fundraising campaign as part of the MY MRI Appeal. The Trust provides a vital service to all our citizens, and we want to be part of this campaign to help every citizen who needs medical care”
Keith Ramsay, Chair of Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust said: “We are hugely grateful for the incredible support being given by the Muslim community. Not only will this provide a boost to the MY MRI Appeal, but it will also strengthen our partnerships with the community and help our understanding as a Trust about the needs of all our communities.
“The success of our fundraising appeal relies on the generosity of individuals across our local communities. With their help we will reach our target and improve care and clinical outcomes for our patients, by developing a diagnostic suite at Pinderfields Hospital. The appeal is our biggest fundraiser to date and we are immensely grateful for the support from Muslims for MRI who have embodied the selfless meaning of charity and will contribute to the betterment of our local population.”
The MY MRI Appeal is raising money to fund a new state of the art diagnostic suite in Pinderfields Hospital. This £6million development, partly being funded by Trust budget and a grant from NHS England, will include the installation of a state-of-the-art 3.0 Tesla MRI scanner. The support of the charity means that the project can be over and above the standard NHS provision, with an enhanced experience for patients particularly, children.
The project will benefit more than 100,000 local people each year that need an MRI or CT scan at the hospital. Scans play a crucial part in assessing critically ill patients in particular those attending A&E, those with cancers, heart problems, bone fractures, and many other circumstances.
Donations via Muslims for MRI can be made via justgiving.com/page/muslimsformri or via local Mosques.
