Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust welcomes new Chief Executive

We are pleased to announce that Brent Kilmurray has been appointed as Chief Executive of the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Brent joins us from Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, a mental health trust, where he has been Chief Executive since 2020. He has decades of experience in the NHS in a variety of roles and sectors, including seven years at the level of Chief Executive. He is also familiar with our region, having previously been Chief Executive at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Keith Ramsay, Chair of the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, said:
It is no secret that the NHS is experiencing extremely pressurised times and we have a lot to do. I am therefore pleased we have been able to appoint a new Chief Executive like Brent, with years of leadership experience under his belt and his focus on supporting and engaging staff. I look forward to working with him, building on the strong foundations for improvement that we already have at the Trust and taking forward our ambitions for Mid Yorkshire’s future.
The Chair added,
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Len Richards for the visionary leadership he has provided Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust over the last few years.
Rob Webster CBE, CEO Lead for the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, said:
I am delighted that Brent will be joining us here in West Yorkshire. His significant leadership experience and commitment to improving patient care and reducing health inequalities will be an asset to the Trust, the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts and our Partnership.
I look forward to working with Brent and would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Len Richards for his leadership as Chief Executive at the Trust and across West Yorkshire.
Brent Kilmurray said:
I was absolutely delighted to accept the offer of the role of Chief Executive at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. I have really enjoyed getting to know more about the Trust, meeting new colleagues and staff over the past few weeks. I am excited to get started in the very near future.
It is a real privilege to be a Chief Executive in the NHS and I look forward to doing my absolute best for the people of Wakefield, Kirklees and beyond.
Brent will take up his appointment at Mid Yorkshire in April.
