Major treatment room, MY Eye, officially opens at Pinderfields
Today has seen the official opening of MY Eye, a new major treatment room within Pinderfields Hospital’s Eye Clinic, by The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust’s Chief Executive, Len Richards, alongside the very first patient to use the facility, Carol Judson.
Made possible through Target Investment Fund monies, MY Eye has centralised Ophthalmology local anaesthetic procedures at the same location as the main outpatient department.
Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Len Richards, said: “I am delighted to declare MY Eye officially open.
“The relocation of the majority of Ophthalmology local anaesthetic procedures, from a theatre environment into a major treatment room environment, will increase theatre capacity for other elective activity, specifically at Pontefract Hospital. It also supports best practice and improving patient experience, with everything done under one roof.
“I’m pleased to report that the facility has already benefitted 413 patients since it became operational in August.”
Carol commented: “It’s a privilege to open the new major treatment centre and to have the opportunity to personally thank staff involved in my care. My experience of MY Eye was extremely positive. I was well looked after and the whole experience was much better than expected.”
