Hospital staff at the top of the regional leader board as they swap medicine for miles in the Race for Recipients
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust has risen to the occasion during Organ Donation Week claiming the top spot on the regional leader board in the NHS Blood and Transplant ‘Race for Recipient’ challenge.
This inspiring challenge saw trust colleagues complete 12,639.7- kilometres towards the 50,000-kilometre goal which represents a km for each of the 50,000 patients who are living with a lifesaving transplant within in the UK.
262 signed up to the Mid Yorkshire team and ran, hiked, cycled, swam, and walked 1,211 activities throughout the nine-day challenge.
Helen Buglass, Consultant and Lead of Organ Donation at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, expressed her delight at being part of this transformative race, stating:
I am overwhelmed with the response from colleagues taking part in this challenge, the impressive performance by all secured us first place on the leader board among Trusts in Yorkshire that also participated in this worthy cause.
This remarkable accomplishment reflects not only our team's strength and dedication but also our unwavering commitment to promoting organ donation awareness within our community. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those awaiting organ transplants.
