Changes to visitor car parking charges
We want to be upfront with you and give you advance warning about a decision we recognise won’t be very popular. From 1 August there will be a small increase in what we charge for parking in our visitor car parks.
What this means is that you will be required to pay an additional 50p on top of our existing charges for all visitor car parks at our three hospitals at Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury, with visits of under 20 minutes remaining free.
We will also be maintaining all our range of existing concessions, including no charges for Blue Badge holders and reduced rates to help patients and visitors that need to come to hospital regularly for a length of time.
We know finances are tight for everyone at the moment. Unfortunately, the NHS isn’t immune to that: like many other trusts our budgets are under pressure so we’ve had to look at how we can increase our income in some areas so that we do our best to avoid reducing costs in other areas that may directly impact on patient care.
Despite it costing us more to maintain our car parks, we’ve managed to avoid increasing our charges for the last five years, and this small increase will make us similar to other NHS trusts in the region.
We hope this helps explain why we’ve had to take this step. You can find the new charges and information about concessions on our 'Getting here' page.
