Celebrating our speciality and specialist doctors
This week (14-18 October), we are celebrating SAS Week to recognise and raise the profile of our SAS doctors and showcase the expertise they bring to their roles at the Trust every day.
SAS doctors are specialty and specialist grade doctors with at least four years of postgraduate training, two of which are in a relevant specialty. They are the fastest growing group of doctors in the UK and are a valued part of our workforce here at the Trust.
We have over 100 SAS doctors at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, working across a number of specialties, and throughout the week we are thanking them for their hard work and dedication.
Dr Richard Robinson, Chief Medical Officer at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, said: “Our SAS doctors are a diverse group of clinicians who do an incredible job and make a huge difference to so many of our patients each and every day.
“The Trust is very lucky to have a growing number of these experts working across a wide variety of specialties and locations. The skills, knowledge and experience they bring to their roles is invaluable.”
Dr Tracy Langcake, SAS Tutor at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, added: "Our SAS doctors are a vital part of our undergraduate and postgraduate medical education team at Mid Yorkshire.
“They play a crucial role in mentoring and training the next generation of healthcare professionals and their rich and varied skillset is a huge asset to our medical education team."
Throughout the week, we will be sharing some profiles of our SAS doctors, so you can hear from them first hand about why they love their jobs.
