My Doctor Appreciation Week Sanjay Bangad
Hello My name is Sanjay Bangad
I started my first NHS job in July 1992 in Medway Hospital Kent, having completed my early training in India (MBBS,MD).
After completing my registrar training in Elderly, General Medicine and Endoscopy in Yorkshire including at Pontefract, I joined Mid Yorks in August 2001 as a consultant physician.
I’ve been instrumental in developing the nutrition service in the trust, and perform the endoscopies and feeding tube insertions. I am aso involved in training and supervision of all grades of junior doctors in Elderly medicine and Endoscopy and have trained Nutrition Nurses over the years
I am national and international examiner for MRCP PACES exams for all Royal colleges of Physicians of UK.
My wife has just retired as an ENT surgeon after 30 years in the NHS and my daughter is now an NHS MaxFax Junior doctor.
Outside of work I’m interested in gardening, walking the dog and singing — I even won the Midyorks got talent competition! For over 10 years I have been a local charity Trustee for Barnsley healthy hearts, which promotes exercise and well-being in the elderly.
All the staff and colleagues I have worked with for 25 years in the Trust have been wonderful.
The Most rewarding aspect of my job is the interaction with my patients. Every single patient and person is a story in itself and knowing this helps one make a deeper connection with them.
I am really grateful for my NHS journey and the opportunities over 32 years.
