MY consultant: Dr Oliver Isaac

Dr Oliver Isaac

Hello, my name is Oliver Isaac and I have recently joined the Trust as a consultant in spinal injuries rehabilitation.

I graduated from the University of Leeds medical school, before completing foundation posts and core medical training in the West Yorkshire region. Following this I trained as a registrar in rehabilitation medicine, which included posts in the Mid Yorkshire-based Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre and Sheffield-based Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre.

A vision shared with colleagues is to develop the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre’s service through broadening of subspecialist spinal injuries clinics, and improved integration with acute, rehabilitation and community services in the wider region. Spinal injuries rehabilitation is quite a niche specialty, but has many links with other services and systems, and for me this variety and skills mix within this dynamic specialty is what drew me to the work.

Working with the spinal injuries team really illustrates the trust’s motto of 'working together, making a difference'. Working with a positive, knowledge and hard working team has helped inspire me to provide the very best care I can.
