Developing your career prospects with an apprenticeship

Your name: Chris
The apprenticeship you are doing:
People Professional Level 5 (including CIPD Level 5)
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
I wanted to increase my skill level but also for career prospects moving forward. A lot of roles at the level I work within the NHS require CIPD membership.
How will the apprenticeship benefit your career?
I currently work for the Trust as the Head of International Recruitment, and the apprenticeship has not only expanded my knowledge of the human resources function but has also helped me provide better advice in certain aspects of my role.
In the future, it should further support my career development and enhance my prospects for future roles.
Have you faced any challenges?
There have been several challenging modules so far, I have had to research and deepen my understanding in areas where my prior knowledge was limited.
What advice would you give to someone considering an apprenticeship?
It is really important to focus your time so you can split it between your day-to-day job and working on your apprenticeship. Having a manager who supports your apprenticeship is very important to this.
Submission deadlines come quickly – so I try to stay on top of my apprenticeship work, so that I am not struggling when it comes to submitting my work.
